This is Caketown!

Such a topical title I know. Anyhow finally got the first animation assignment out of the way, it felt like such a struggle to complete it. Quitting smoking (HA HA! HA! Brillaint timing!), not animating at all or drawing much over the summer made it kind of difficult to get my legs back. Even the work ethic was kind of lacking, mainly due to a lack of ability to focus (up until this Friday), but it is done! Done the night before it's due but done none the less.

And so it begins, I'm updating the blog again...

Tried putting my shiny new tablet to use with some mixed results, it's no Rembrandt but it'll do for now. My plan is to colour every weekly sketch assignment in photoshop using my tablet as I need to get better at shop art in general. If only to crush Kadi and Emily! I'm joking...only not...

I haven't been drawing much.

Outside of idly sketching stuff for the weekly design blog assignments I really haven't been drawing much when I should be. Kind of hard to do with a part-time summer time job with full-time hours.

Character design of the week

ARR I'M A PIRATE

Design blog assignment

A couple of classmates have gotten together to create a class blog for character design since we won't be having a character design class past the first year and it's just started up this summer break. The first assignment being to create a character in Tim Burton's style, a monster or a monster Tim Burton style.



I'm a huge fan of Tim Burton's style and movies but have never really attempted to emulate either in any capacity until now. I hopped online and sketched out a few quick references...

And ended up with this...

I dunno if this is what I'll end up submitting for the blog but it's a start.
